[Review] Dysautonomia Treatment in Malaysia - R.T Case

Client Name: R.T

Before starting my hypnotherapy session with Hiro, I was emotionally unstable like a time bomb that can go off anytime. I have all the symptoms of dysautonomia that Hiro showed us on a slide in a workshop.

Dysautonomia (or autonomic dysfunction) is a condition in which the autonomic nervous system (ANS) does not work properly.. My Stress Anxiety and Depression(DASS) test score was all in the SEVERE category.  I am tired all the time and no amount of sleep and nap seems to help. This has severely affected my work and family life, which both were very dear to me.

My whole family was in the wellness business but TCM , organic foods and nutrition supplements did not helped much. I started my self-help/ spiritual journey around the age 18(i'm now 35), but none of the things I learned in the past seems to help, instead they worked as a weapon as a high(almost impossible to meet) standard to judge against myself.

After struggling for about 2 months, my family members finally suggested that I seek for external help, just like a doctor cannot do operation on himself, maybe I too, have reached a point where self-helping doesn't work anymore.

Hiro created a safe environment which I was able to start sharing my situation without feeling judged and criticised. This helped tremendously because I felt like finally being understood, and that there are others that has gone through similar paths that I have, I'm not alone and I have hope to recover.

Everything I received in the sessions was personalized and customized to meet the person that I am at the moment, never did I felt I was pushed too hard or being offered something that I don't actually need. Hiro really does have a deep understanding of my situation, and has multiple ways to handle things that came up in the sessions.

I was noticing significant improved sleep quality after the 2nd week of my session. Which lead to improved emotional stability. My family members seemed to be more at ease around me instead of fearing that I would burst anytime like a bomb. Things just kept getting better and better after each session. I was getting less and less triggered by events that used to make my goes BOOOM. Every session there was something deeper that was being discovered and dealt with, each session was purposeful and meaningful, and I received clear concise action plan that I can work on before the next session. Never did I felt that time or energy was wasted during the whole 2~3 months working with Hiro and his team of well trained staff.

Today I am about 80~90% free of all the symptoms that I have prior to working with Hiro. I feel so lucky and grateful to have found Hiro and hypnotherapy, many people that did not make it in their journey and took their own life, and many more that are still struggling with guilt, grief, pain and hopelessness. Without the support of Hiro and his team, my recovery could take probably 2 years to a lifetime instead of 2~3 months.
Recovery can be speedy when we find the tools that works, Hiro and his team certainly knows how to make them not only work, but work on a personal and customized way for people like us.

I hope that my story can give you some courage and motivation to seek help from a trusted professional(such as Hiro).

Hiro sharing session about the Tourette Syndrome on the Lite FM breakfast show - 19th February

Hiro sharing session about the Tourette Syndrome on the Lite FM breakfast show - 19th February 2019.
Hiro discussed about the prevalence and awareness about Tourette Syndrome.
We also discussed about the treatment option etc.

If you missed the show, welcome to read some tips below:

8 Ways to Deal with Ticcing in Public

Medical ID Card/Bracelet

When you were a kid, your mother might have carried one of those “I have Tourette” cards.   Some stranger would make a rude remark, or you’d be having a visible/audible tic in the grocery store, and mom would  flash the card.  It might have helped you both in some situations. If your tics are quite severe, one of these cards in your wallet is probably still a good idea, just in case someone seriously misinterprets your movements or  sounds. It’s not for flashing at random strangers, though (and you might prefer a Medic-Alert style bracelet or pendant for more difficult situations).
For your public outings, we suggest seven more methods for coping with tics that won’t stay in the closet when you’re out and about:

Don’t isolate yourself

It’s tempting, especially if you get nasty remarks and curious looks, but you’ve got as much right to enjoy public spaces and places as anyone else.  In totally public venues like the local library, the swimming pool, the shopping mall, or the sidewalk,  don’t worry about doing anything special.  These places belong to everyone, and that includes you. Some “public” places are a bit different, because other people come to them with certain expectations: upscale restaurants, the opera, that sort of thing. For these rare exceptions, see below.

Bring something attention-absorbing

When your mind is totally focussed, your tics tend to recede.  Waiting around in a public place might cause tics to come to the forefront  Always carry a book of really hard crosswords, number puzzles, a hand-held computer game, needlework,  sketchbook, an iPod with  the ultimate party mix, or something similarly engrossing, and let yourself really get absorbed by it.  Not only are you less likely to tic, but you won’t even sense it if you do, and you won’t observe any stares from other patrons either.

Bring a friend

If you’re enjoying their company and they’re enjoying yours, it will put strangers around you at ease. They may notice your tics, but they’ll also notice that you’re obviously a normal guy or gal with friends who like you. It’s an automatic icebreaker.

Be prepared

Think about your current tics, and how you might minimize both your own discomfort and others’ potential reaction.  For a spitting tic, bring a handkerchief so you can be discreet about it.  If you’re sniffing loudly, try a bit of Vick’s VapoRub or similar strong-smelling ointment under your nose — it will change the sensation, quite possibly short circuiting the tic for a while. If you have complex tics that slow you up, allow extra time to get into and out of events. If you find that you’re better relaxed after an hour at the gym or yoga class, schedule your life accordingly. And so on…

Prepare others

For events where the noise level might not be high enough to camouflage vocal tics, contact the venue in advance to see if they can suggest a solution. Perhaps a private box can be arranged (and if it’s a disability accommodation, there really shouldn’t be any extra cost to you…).  Many movie theatres now have “VIP Seating” for people who like to talk and canoodle during movies, and “Cry Rooms” for people who want to bring babies. These facilities can be helpful for you too.

Frame your response

If someone goes out of his way to be rude, use your judgement, but don’t be shy about defending your rights. You can reply directly with an explanation, complain to the management of the venue, or take your business elsewhere. The only thing you shouldn’t do is take it personally.  You can’t control your tics, but you can raise the level of the dialog, and, just maybe, add to someone’s knowledge.

Seek opportunities

Look for places where you can really let go:  if you’re a (young?) rocker, head for loud clubs, rock concerts, that sort of thing.  Other activities to explore include running, skiing, swing dancing, swimming, bicycling—all provide wonderful energy outlets.

[Testimonial] Child Anxiety Symptoms Treatment Malaysia - Low JS Case

Name: Low JS

Age: 4
Town: Seremban
Intervention: Sleep Talk Process, Clinical Neurofeedback, Nutritional Consultation

JS has developed the issue of anxiety, poor socializing and logical thinking skills before 4 years old. We decided to bring him for the neurofeedback training in order to tackle such issues. We are very pleased and happy about that JS’s condition has shown improvement throughout the training sessions. For an instance, JS has become calmer and his fear of loud noise such as thunderstorm was reduced significantly after participating for 30 sessions of neurofeedback training. Moreover, the diet control and the nutritional suggestions provided by the professional nutritional consultant in the centre also accounted for JS’s improvement throughout the therapy periods.

Nowadays, JS is capable to make friends and get along well with his peers. Besides, he has become more cheerful than before. Nonetheless, there is still space for the improvement on his social skills as well as his executive functioning capability. As for now, we are glad to see the improvement on JS’s condition and we do believe in the effectiveness of neurofeedback as well as nutritional control in treating the anxiety symptoms.

Treatment for Traumatic Brain Injury in Malaysia - Ken Case (Clinical Neurofeedback Method)

Testimonial from Ken's Wife:

My hubby has TBI due to hypoxia, involuntary movement issue due to cardio arrest, and visual problem. These conditions cause him to experience loss of memory, have a foggy brain, and he is unable to read, write, work and see well.

My hubby did hyperbaric oxygen therapy and occupational therapy, but the result is not obvious or significant.

After 80 times of neurofeedback, he can read now, both short-term and long-term memory have improved, his involuntary movement issue is slightly improved, and he is able to write better than before, can do math and play piano as well.

He is now more confident and, in the process to prepare himself to teach again. Also, it helps him to increase his energy. I found that neurofeedback is so valuable as it gives hope to my hubby to start his new life again. The staff here are very helpful, they assisted me in understanding every aspect of neurofeedback and make me feel confident of this method.

BEFORE Clinical Neurofeedback Treatment: The brain showed underarousal (red in circle area). It may lead to impaired executive functioning and overall brain functions problem. Red in color indicates that the underarousal problem is very obvious.

AFTER Clinical Neurofeedback Treatment: The brain has improved significantly (red in circle area). Now we can clearly see that there are few points show in orange color, and those areas actually represent his current main concern (involuntary moment etc). Thus, we can tailored made new training protocol to train the brain, likes a muscle.

What Professionals Say

“Children deal with trauma in a different way to adults, often not able to express what they are feeling as a result of any trauma. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is one of the most debilitating anxiety disorders, creating a number of behavioural and emotional changes in children that, if not treated properly, stay with the child for the rest of his or her life. PTSD is formed when the unconscious mind is involved in death, disaster, rape or early physical danger. SleepTalk® has been shown to be one of the most effective ways of treating such traumas in children, bypassing the normal communication methods and allowing the unconscious to let go of the intrusive thoughts, flashbacks and anger associated with such memories.
Using strategies that the unconscious understands, SleepTalk® forms a direct path to the parts of the memory holding high levels of anxiety and distress, encouraging the mind to reframe the original event and strengthening the self-image and an awareness of safety. With the parents involved in the process that awareness of safety is enhanced. I highly recommend SleepTalk® for all anxiety disorders in children.”
Gary Johnston. Psychotherapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist.
Specialist in Trauma and PTSD
“I am a qualified medical practitioner and psychiatrist. I have used the technique of SleepTalk® for many years. “SleepTalk® is a safe, effective and a very valuable process. I have found it useful in my clinical practice and recommend it highly.”
Dr. Eileen Feeney, MB, BCh, BAO, DCH, FRANZCP
Registered MD and Psychiatrist
“SleepTalk® is a sensible practical and easy-to-follow method of communication important messages to the subconscious mind. This process should be used by all parents, educators and health professionals and the practice adopted in the management of all disorders in which the mind plays a significant role.”
Professor Ian Brighthope, MBBS, Dip Ag Sci, FACNEM, FASEM, MAIAST
Fellow of Australasian College of Nutritional
and Environmental Medicine
“By hearing enough examples of positive and effective thoughts, delivered by a person with whom the child enjoys a close and loving relationship, the child can eventually discard negative feelings and self-defeating statements and replace them with powerful and useful ones. In this sense SleepTalk® shares many parallels with a well recognised psychological I therapeutic approach known as self-instruction or self-verbalisation.”
Alex Bartsch, BA (Hons) Psychology
Director, Zenith Professional Development
(Corporate psychology consultant
and former Victoria Police Homicide Squad Detective)
Cherie de Hass lectures both here in Australia, Asia and Europe and contributes to many magazines, writes articles on herbs and well-being, has a busy practice in Melbourne and is now treating the fourth generation of many of her patients.
She states: “I have used the Goulding process for over thirty five years. This is not a therapy and does not involve taking medications – just a commonsense approach to parenting. My daughter Monique, whose formative years, benefited greatly with SleepTalk®, giving her self-confidence, security and love. Monique now uses this incredible therapy on her own children with wonderful results.  One day when discussing her childhood and SleepTalk®, she told me when she was a little girl, she would sometimes hear me come into her room and would pretend to be asleep, because she loved hearing me tell her all those positive things that made her feel, peaceful, happy, loved and very safe!
Now three generations, and thirty five years later, I know my grandchildren will continue using this miraculous process to help them achieve their goals and aspirations, to teach others how a happy and healthy mind can help overcome many of life’s obstacles that maybe thrown our way.
SleepTalk® is one of the most valuable and credible processes that I have encountered in over thirty five years, and is suitable for children of all ages and stages of development.”
Cherie de Hass,
Fellow, Australian Natural Therapies Association
Former Presenter: Healthy Wealthy and Wise
Naturopath, Author and Media Writer
“SleepTalk® is an invaluable aid for families and therapists in improving family attitudes and intimacy, the program is easily and unobtrusively implemented and can be readily adapted to suit all children and family contexts.
Dr. Janet Hall, MAPsS
Clinical and Counselling Psychologist
“SleepTalk® is positive, natural, non-invasive and non-harmful treatment regime, the benefits of which can literally last forever. There is no doubt that the time is now right for the benefits of the Goulding SleepTalk® process to be disseminated more widely among healthcare professionals and the general community. I wholeheartedly support Joane’s effort to make SleepTalk® more widely known.”
Jeff Berger, BA (Psych), BTH, Grad Dip.
Counselling Psychologist

What parents say

“My children have become calm again and the household is happier, thank you for giving me back my child.”
“I have been presenting the SleepTalk® with my son who is 9 yrs of age for 6 months and I have a new boy! He’s back to being my loving, caring and helpful son who has found his self-esteem and self-worth again. I am so proud of him and a huge believer in the SleepTalk® miracle. It is amasing. Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou!!!”
“Initially I didn’t think SleepTalk® would have the potential to work on my 3 year old daughter; however after trying the technique I found my 3 year old to be calmer and more settled with her bedtime routine. The SleepTalk® process was very easy to follow and manage. It has been a worthwhile contribution to my daughter’s very healthy sleeping routine.”
“Since starting the SleepTalk® process, the whole family has noticed an improvement in my son’s behaviour. It is hard to believe that with so little time and effort our daily lives have improved so much. My son is a much calmer boy now and has less tantrums, in fact it is now a rare occurrence that we have to send him to his room for time out (it used to be a couple of times a day at weekends). It is also a lovely time for me to go into his room at night and whisper to him which is a nice end to the day regardless of it being a good day or not. He is definitely waking up ‘bright and happy’ these days – we love it!”
“We have been continuing doing our SleepTalk® and have observed some pretty great developments with ‘N’ which are more obvious since his return to school. He seems to have acquired a whole new work ethic and is participating in school work activities and seems to be generalizing this knowledge outside of his school environment and is even doing some academic work ‘just for fun’! Oh My Goodness, I am so very thrilled about this!!”

What children say

“The fairies talk to me at night and they tell me they love me. They sound just like my Mum”
“I know you love me because you tell me so at night Daddy”
“Mum will you say those nice things to me again tonight”?

Clinical Neurofeedback Treatment for PTSD in Malaysia

Twenty-four sessions of NF produced significant improvements in PTSD symptomatology in multiply traumatized individuals with PTSD who had not responded to at least six months of trauma-focused psychotherapy, compared to a waitlist control group that continued to receive treatment as usual. The effect sizes of NF in this study (d = -2.33 within, d = - 1.71 between groups) is comparable to the results reported for the best evidence based treatments for PTSD: Prolonged Exposure, CBT and EMDR, which, like this study, also generally have employed TAU control groups, and better than any published drug intervention for PTSD Read more: https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0166752
Neurofeedback is an innovative treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) that is readily accessible to mental health therapists. As a widespread mental health concern with potentially devastating long-term consequences on psychosocial functioning, PTSD can also adversely impact biophysiological processes, particularly those related to the brain. Neurofeedback has shown promise in alleviating overall PTSD symptoms, including these underlying neurobiological consequences. Successful results have been found among clients with PTSD who have not been responsive to prior treatment modalities. https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/1524838018781103
