Celebrating Our Graduates: 2025 Trauma-Informed Hypnotherapy Graduation Ceremony

Honouring Our Graduates: A New Era for Trauma-Informed Hypnotherapy in Malaysia

We are thrilled to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the newest cohort of graduates from the Practitioner Diploma in Trauma-Informed Hypnotherapy (FHT, UK)! This achievement not only marks the completion of an intensive and deeply transformative training journey—it also represents a significant step forward in elevating trauma-informed care across Malaysia and beyond.

In addition to their internationally recognized diploma, our graduates also earned two professional qualifications from UTM SPACE:

  • Practitioner Certificate in Trauma-Informed Hypnotherapy

  • Practitioner Certificate in Applied Hypnosis

With these credentials, they are now fully equipped to serve as certified trauma-informed hypnotherapists, empowered with evidence-based, neuroscience-informed, and ethically grounded skills to support healing, regulation, and post-traumatic growth.

The graduation ceremony was a truly magical occasion. We were honoured to have Associate Professor Dr. Yusri Bin Kamin, Director of Lifelong Learning from UTM SPACE, as our official witness. His presence signified not only institutional recognition, but also the growing collaboration between higher education and trauma-informed clinical practice.

The event was masterfully hosted by the ever-charismatic DJ Shuleen, a beloved radio personality whose warmth, humour, and heartfelt energy made the celebration unforgettable. The room was alive with laughter, meaningful stories, and emotional reflections shared by trainers, students, and guests alike.

This was more than just a convocation—it was a celebration of a movement. A movement toward safe, compassionate, and brain-based mental health care that acknowledges the unseen wounds people carry and equips professionals to hold space for healing.

To our graduates: you’ve achieved something extraordinary. Your courage, openness, and commitment to lifelong learning embody the very spirit of trauma-informed care. May you continue to be safe anchors and transformational guides in every life you touch.

Together, let’s keep building safe spaces—one breath, one heart, and one healing story at a time.

Creating Psychologically Safe Workplaces in Healthcare: Trauma-Informed Organizational Care Workshop at MOH NCEMH

Creating Psychologically Safe Workplaces in Healthcare: Trauma-Informed Organizational Care Workshop at MOH NCEMH

After weeks of thoughtful preparation, we successfully delivered the Trauma-Informed Organizational Care Workshop at the Ministry of Health’s National Centre for Excellence in Mental Health (NCEMH). This impactful event was organized by the Counseling Psychology Unit in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry & Mental Health, Putrajaya Hospital.

This time, I was honored to be invited as a key speaker, bringing dual expertise as a trauma-informed hypnotherapist and a practitioner in organizational psychology. This unique integration allowed us to explore both the individual neurobiological impact of trauma and the systemic changes needed in workplace culture to foster psychological safety.

💡 A Deeply Human Learning Experience

What unfolded was more than a training—it was a space for collective reflection, emotional honesty, and professional growth. Throughout the session, I witnessed passionate healthcare professionals courageously open up about their emotional experiences, stressors, and unseen struggles at work.

Many shared a common realization:
“I thought I was the only one… now I realize we are all carrying something.”

This collective acknowledgment is the first step toward healing—not just individually, but across entire teams.

🧠 Why Trauma-Informed Organizational Work Matters

In healthcare, professionals carry more than just clinical duties—they absorb distress, hold space for patients in pain, and often suppress their own needs to maintain composure. This can lead to emotional fatigue, disengagement, or burnout if trauma is left unacknowledged.

By combining insights from trauma-informed hypnotherapy and positive organizational psychology, the training emphasized not just healing the individual—but transforming the culture of care itself.

🎯 Training Objectives

  1. Recognize How Trauma Manifests in Work Settings
Understand the long-term effects of unresolved trauma, including Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and how they show up in adult workplace behaviors, emotional responses, and stress patterns.

  2. Apply Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) Principles in Organizations
Learn the six core TIC principles and how hypnotherapy can support nervous system regulation, emotional safety, and trauma recovery at the subconscious level.

  3. Practice Emotional First Aid and Team Support Tools
Explore simple, practical methods for stress regulation—such as grounding techniques and self-hypnosis—that can be applied individually and within teams for better emotional resilience.

💬 A Message from Dr. Hiro Koo

As both a trauma-informed practitioner and a major in industrial and organizational psychology, I truly believe the future of healthcare depends on creating safe, compassionate, and supportive systems—not just for patients, but for those who care for them.

To every healthcare professional who showed up fully, spoke truthfully, and supported one another—you are the reason this workshop had such depth and power.

Meeting My Mentor in the Traumatic Stress Field: A Full-Circle Moment with Dr. Bessel van der Kolk

Guess who I had the honor of meeting today?
It’s none other than Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, the author of “The Body Keeps the Score” — and my very first mentor in the field of trauma healing. 🌟

A few years ago, I completed the Traumatic Stress Studies under his guidance, and that experience has profoundly shaped the work I do today — especially in promoting trauma-informed practices within occupational and organizational psychology.

So today, standing beside him at a trauma workshop, and having the chance to share the trauma-informed initiatives we’re developing — it honestly felt surreal. I was overwhelmed with a mix of excitement and gratitude. Listening to him speak passionately about neurofeedback for trauma recovery, and watching him introduce these concepts to an audience of experts… I truly felt seen and affirmed.

Even more inspiring is his unwavering dedication — now in his 80s, he traveled all the way from the U.S. to Australia just to teach and connect with us. His passion and presence were simply electric. ⚡

Many of the values and approaches we apply at our center are deeply inspired by his work. I’m incredibly thankful to be invited by leaders in Australia’s trauma neurofeedback community to this private, closed-door event. It was such a surprise and an absolute privilege to learn alongside world-class trauma experts like Dr. Ruth, Sebern, and many other pioneers in the field.

Can’t wait to bring these insights and inspirations back home to Malaysia. 🫶🏻
