[Event] Creative Coaching Workshop for Miss Astro 2019

I was invited to conduct a creative coaching workshop to unleash the inner beauty of the Miss Astro 2019 Contestants.
I am proud to be their mentor for this event.
The content of the workshop involved using creative coaching tools to bring out their best.

According to the Europen Graduate School, the Artwork itself is central to how the Coaching unfolds to find solutions, gain insight, widen perspectives and learn. This is called having an "art-analogue" attitude. With this expression we describe a basic attitude where the evolving (Art)process itself is leading the next step. In this attitude both, coach and client, serve the Art process in such a way that anything happening is taken as a guidance and opportunity and not as a failure or mistake. In addition, the coach needs professional conversation skills and a competence to install a holding and trustworthy professional relationship.

Coaching is the practice of supporting individuals, teams and groups to progress towards formulating their own goals. Consulting refers to situations where the consultant takes a more active role to facilitate and contribute towards achieving clear project or organizational goals.

If your organization is interested to have a creative coaching workshop too, feel free to contact us via email: [email protected]

Hiro Koo

Newmindcentre.com

4. Newmindcentre.com

[Review] Chronic Insomnia Treatment | Malaysia - FYR Case

Name: FYR

I was having very bad insomnia for the past 7 years. This insomnia problem has worsened during early 2019. I could not find out the reason of my insomnia other than blaming it to my work. It has worsened to the extent that I am unable to focus at work despite me being me a high-performance worker at work. In addition, I started to feel sad for no reason, being emotional, and this time I blame it to my insomnia.
I finally took the effort to solve my issue by seeking help from psychiatrist. However, it did not help as I could not tell them what issue I am facing. In the end, my brother found me this clinic and asked me to try. I was very skeptical at first but I decided to give it a try as I really want to overcome my problem. I started my therapy in April 2019 when I was on a short break from work. I had about 2 to 3 sessions before I resume work in May 2019. I can see improvement from the beginning as I am able to focus and perform at work. After continuing the sessions, I realized my main issue is stress management. I did not find a way to release the accumulated tension since young and in particular after started working. I took Hiro’s advice and applied the technique learned (e.g. taking a 1-minute silent break before entering my house after work every day). I realized this helped me to leave my stress at work before entering home. The people around me can also see that I am happier and more relaxed compared to January 2019.
After 6 sessions in less than 4 months, I realized I am now able to cope with stress better. My insomnia has also improved. I believe the therapy that provided by Hiro Koo is a natural way to help people like me (e.g. non-medical condition like emotional or stress issue). I am really thankful to have made the decision to come to Hiro Koo in April 2019.

Testimonial

SK:
This workshop has benefited me greatly. I experienced my emotional ups and downs and I have learnt pay more attention to my emotional management. Through the workshop I realize how emotion can affect one’s personality and behavior. It also taught me the appropriate way to release my inner feelings and emotion. As for hypnotherapy, the therapeutic voice recording (by Hiro Koo) and music has helped my mind to stay calm; I was also able to relax and fall asleep. I am very grateful toward New Mind Brain Health Centre for the workshop. I sincerely thank them.

TBK:

Yuki:

Ann L:

I had serious insomnia for years. As a result, I could not perform well in my daily life, especially at my work. At first, I tried sleeping pills. Then I relied on alcohol. Gradually, I became dependent on them which negatively affected my health. I had also tried other alternative ways to improve my sleep condition but to no avail, until I stumbled upon hypnotherapy. After a few sessions of hypnotherapy, I began to realize that I am able to sleep easier. It is truly amazing! I could not believe that hypnotherapy resolved my sleep problems which I had been suffering from for years. I can live a normal life now; I can get into sleep at night easily and wake up fresh in the morning. My energy level increased as the quality of sleep improved. Hypnotherapy is truly effective for me. I am glad that it is a natural and safe method that was able to address my condition without resorting to any medication. Even after most of my symptoms were treated, I strongly believe that hypnotherapy can also help me maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Dysautonomia Symptoms Treatment | Malaysia - YK Case

Name: YK
Age: 40
Town: Kuala Lumpur
Job title: Housewife/Homemade baker

[Review] Depression Treatment with Clinical Hypnotherapy | Malaysia - WC Case

My life was a vicious cycle of dullness and hopelessness. I showed no interest in most things, withdrawn from any social contact, and minimized interaction with colleagues even at work. At home, I indulged myself in the internet and music — essentially just living in my own world, away from other any contact, because of my depression. About two or three years ago, I did make an effort to address my condition, which led me to seek past life regression. That did not work out.
My life came to a standstill until I came across hypnotherapy by Hiro Koo. After four sessions, I am already driven to change. I began joining courses and clubs, opening up my social circle. I am able to face and accept my emotion; my confidence is boosted. My attitude turned 180°: I became more positive, more outgoing and more willing to try new things.
What I find valuable or unique in hypnotherapy is how accurate the “analysis” was. Throughout the sessions, Hiro has been able to identify qualities within me that even I was barely aware of. It has helped me to become more aware of my own strengths and weaknesses. I would recommend hypnotherapy to people who need help simply because of its logic-driven nature: it helps you find your own flaws, which led to the root causes of all problems that you can address to improve yourself. Though hypnotherapy is helpful for my condition, it is even more helpful for me to use techniques learnt from Hiro to change for the better, develop a positive mindset, and listen to my feelings — all of which important to improve my own wellbeing.

[Review] Irritable Bowel Syndrome Treatment | Malaysia - SP Case

Feedback from Mr.SP after the brain mapping assessment and clinical hypnotherapy treatment by Hiro Koo:

I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), which rendered me no control over situation and myself most of the time. Anxiety, panic, and stomach issues were my daily ordeal, to name a few, which made going to places difficult. For the past 10 to 15 years, I had consulted one too many gastroenterologists and taken far too much medicines — all to no avail; none were improving my condition. That was when I started hypnotherapy with Hiro Koo. After just two sessions with him, I saw gradual improvement, enabling me to overcome my problems. I now had fewer issues from IBS, such as lowered impact on health, improved reaction toward stressful situation, and lowered frequency of gut problems. I am now able to go out without hesitation; I feel more relaxed and pleasant in general; and my family members can rely on me for errands. Besides from reduction in symptoms from IBS, the quality of my eating, sleep, and social life has also greatly improved. It is because of hypnotherapy that I get to enjoy such improvement. Hypnotherapy has taught me to focus on the mind: it helped me to adapt to changes, redirect energy and attention to positive things or thoughts, which in turn enabled me to avoid all sorts of negativity. My experience with Hiro has been positive. Hiro and his team were excellent: they were extremely helpful and informative.
As I progress through my hypnotherapy sessions, I came to understand that hypnotherapy — at least for my case — is definitely a better alternative than medication. It helps on health issues while trains me to not be overly dependent on medicines. Now that I am mostly relieve of my IBS symptoms, I can still apply techniques learnt through hypnotherapy to go about my daily life, such as to further explore about myself.

4 Ways Childhood Emotional Neglect Can Take a Toll on Your Physical Health

In recent years, medical and psychological journals have been exploding with studies showing the close relationship between our bodies and our minds.
Study after study shows that the way we think and feel each day has a powerful effect on our health.
For example, carrying around negative feelings (like sadness, anger, hurt or stress, for example), has been shown to increase the amount of inflammation in your body, which then affects the strength of your immune system which makes you more vulnerable to getting sick. — Jennifer E.Graham-Engelanda, et al.; Brain, Behavior and Immunity, 2018.
Another important study showed that people who are better at regulating their feelings, or in other words managing them, have overall better physical health than people who are not skilled in this way. — Yiying Song, et al., Social Cognitive & Affective Neuroscience, 2014.
And yet another study that looked at how couples argue confirmed what has been shown in multiple other studies: being prone to angry outbursts makes you more prone to cardiovascular problems; and holding in your anger or hurt feelings in a conflict, (the researchers call this stonewalling) over time, is highly associated with back and muscular problems. — Robert Levenson, et al., Emotion, 2016.
This is only a very tiny sampling of the large body of research that proves the close relationship between how you treat your feelings and many aspects of your physical health.
This, of course, begs the question: Why aren’t we all actively trying to get better at managing our emotions so that we can improve our physical health? What’s stopping us? What is in the way?
As a psychologist, just like other therapists, I face these questions every single day. I see how people struggle with their own emotions, and I watch the effects of it all.
I also see that the most common reason people struggle with their feelings so much is Childhood Emotional Neglect or CEN.

Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN)

Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN) happens when your parents fail to respond enough to your emotions as they raise you. It is common and even happens in loving homes.
We are all born with our emotions biologically hardwired into us. They emanate from the base of our human brains and travel through special receptors into and through our bellies.
We all have emotions, whether we like it or not. We cannot choose to have feelings or not have feelings, and we cannot choose what we feel.
This is why, if you grew up with CEN, you may be unknowingly living with the effects of CEN, destined for physical problems that you could have prevented if only you had known.
Don’t be worried as you read this. Because you are about to know. And once you know, you can reverse it all.

3 Ways Childhood Emotional Neglect Harms Your Physical Health

  1. Internalization of anger can cause heart problems. As the Levenson study above shows, holding in your anger takes a toll on your heart. If you grow up in a household that is intolerant of your anger, ignores your anger, or fails to name, discuss or validate the reasons for your anger, you learn only one way to deal with it: wall it off. This may allow you to cope as a child, but it can harm your heart.
  2. Sensitivity to stress can cause back problems or headaches. What makes you sensitive to stress? Not dealing with your feelings. When you wall off your fear, your insecurity, your uncertainty, your anger, sadness, or hurt, those feelings do not go away. They simply pool together on the other side of the wall, waiting for something to touch them off. Then, when it happens, they all surge at you, making you feel overwhelmed and stressed. So going through your life with your feelings blocked makes you more sensitive to stress.
  3. Lack of self-awareness makes you vulnerable to poor habits. Families who don’t notice what their child is feeling miss getting to know their child on a deeply personal level. So they sadly remain unaware of who their child really is. I have seen, over decades of treating Childhood Emotional Neglect, that if your parents don’t see you, you do not learn that you are worth looking at. You grow up to be unaware of your own needs, and deep down you don’t realize that your needs even matter. You then are vulnerable to eating or sleeping too much or too little, drinking too much, or engaging in other behaviors that can harm your health.

3 Steps to Stop Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN) From Harming Your Health

  1. Start paying attention to your feelings as you go through your day.
  2. Learn more emotion words and make an effort to use them, including naming your own feelings see the book Running On Empty: Overcome Your Childhood Emotional Neglect for an exhaustive list of feeling words).
  3. As you do steps 1 and 2 you will start to feel more. Now it is time to begin to actively take charge of your feelings. Work on learning the emotion skills: tolerating, identifying, and expressing your feelings.
As a therapist who specializes in Childhood Emotional Neglect, I help people stop allowing their unmanaged emotions to damage their lives and health every single day.
I have watched people go from near-complete lack of awareness of their emotions and a deeply held belief that they don’t matter to not only feeling their feelings but being aware of them and actively managing them.
Amazingly, once we allow ourselves to feel, along comes with it a sense of being a real person with real needs, wants, opinions and value.

A real person who matters, and whose health matters. Someone who is worth caring for. And someone who cares.
